Detail

Hello and thank you for the TWiki,

With the following active plugins on TWiki 4.3.1:

TablePlugin, TinyMCEPlugin, WysiwygPlugin

and a topic with a large table such as:

A B C D E F G
1
2
3
4
5

...cut...

545
546
547
548
549
550

as can be found on:

http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Sandbox/PeterJEdwardsSandbox

and

http://www.twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Sandbox/RandomTestTopic70716

when editing using the WYSIWYG editor, when hitting save in Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 myself and other users get prompted with a Windows Internet Explorer warning box, it conatins "Stop running this script?", "A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive." "Yes" "No".

I get prompted 4 times and I need to click "No" each time in order for the topic edit to save.

I could not reproduce this behaviour using Mozilla Firefox or Chrome. The MS Internet Explorer setting can be adjusted by using a registry key, there is some more information on this and also a comparison of how different browsers detect "slow"/"long running" scripts here:

http://www.nczonline.net/blog/2009/01/05/what-determines-that-a-script-is-long-running/

I don't know if there is anything that can be done to reduce the number of JScript statements needed when saving such a page using the WYSIWYG editor. Just thought I'd mention it, if the behaviour is confirmed then I was thinking of adding it to the page:
