Detail

I've tried every manner of escape syntax, and no matter what I do, %ACTIONSEARCH% never returns any results when called from %INCLUDE% 'd file. This makes it hard to template things.

I just tried this:

  1. Created a topic called "TestActionTracker"
  2. Added %INCLUDE{TestActionSearch}% to it
  3. Created a topic called "TestActionSearch"
  4. Added %ACTIONSEARCH{state=closed}%
  5. Viewed "TestActionTracker"
The search worked perfectly, returning all closed actions in the web.

Clearly this cannot be the case you encountered. Please provide more detail on how to reproduce the problem you are seeing.

Huh, that works for me too (in Sandbox), but not in my templates. I'll work my way up from your example, see where it breaks, and report what I find. It sounds like PEBKAC now smile

No further news, so no-actioning to clear the decks. Please re-open if there's anything new to report.

Sorry I didn't get back to this Crawford. This was user error - I somehow managed drop the "web" attribute from my example code, and the context for an ACTIONSEARCH appears to be its baseweb, not the file that includes the search. ince my actions were in the including web, and the included topic with the ACTIONSEARCH was in a different web, I always got zero results.

In an equally brilliant move, I propagated that error to all my other tests, through good-old copy-and-paste, giving the illusion or reproducibility frown
