TinyMCE adds more and more empty lines in many places each time you save
Eg. you gave a line of text which is verbatim
This text is verbatim
And here is some more text
Now try and edit and save this topic and note each time how many empty lines there are between sections of text. One additional line is added each time.

This type of behaviour varies between browsers (and versions of the same browser). To enable
SMART it should be reported with full versions and tested on as many browsers as possible.

I see this with FF 2.0.0.6 under windows XP. And this bug item is an example that shows the problem.

it seems to be to do with spaces around verbatim blocks. I have noticed it as well. It's the
WysiwygPlugin that's at fault, because even though it's
TinyMCE that inserts the blanks,
WysiwygPlugin should be smart enough to get rid of them again.

Any help you can give me in nailing down specifically where this occurs (between what two types of HTML construct) would be most helpful.

I no longer consider this survivable. It must be fixed for 4.2, as it has the potential for screwing up diffs. Reprioritised to Urgent.
CC
This is TinyMCE's fault. Reassigning.
CC
Also affects H - see
Item4554 for details. Still not sure whatother tags are affected, but it looks like the boundaries of block tags are not being optimised correctly.
CC
I believe (with a touch of hope) that this is now fixed. Watch for blank lines lost from verbatim and pre sections, though!
