TWiki extends the regular expressions with an and
I would like to see TWiki extend regexen with negation.
In Perl, I can say !~ (can't do that in TWiki). What I want is even more useful.
Say I want to search across a bunch of pages with TWiki forms attached. One of the foorm items is status. The status can be one of New, Open, In Progress, on Hold, or Closed.
I want to set up a formatted search to bring back a list of all pages where status is not Closed.
I can say status matches (New|Open|n Progress|On Hold) but that's over-constrained, suboptimal, and risky if I add a new status code.
I just want to say NOT (CLosed)

Vicki You should review the new feature to be released in 4.2 called QuerySearch
In this you can use negate and if your regexes are mainly looking for formfield values then I think this will make you very happy.

I believe Vicki's requirement is adequately addressed by query searches. No action.
