Does this site look broken?. Use the LitterTray web for test cases.

During the last weeks I thought that it would be easy to automate tests from the TestCases web, by running them through view and checking the result for the string ALL TESTS PASSED. Unfortunately this isn't viable.

  • In TestCaseAutoMetaSearch, there's a formatted %METASEARCH{...}%. Expected and actual are identical when viewed with a browser, yet the TestFixturesPlugin complains if run with test=compare because it finds a non-expanded bullet list (three spaces, '*')
    • ...and of course, it doesn't expect recent class additions to links...
  • TestCaseAutoSearch is even more of a mystery because it reports ALL TESTS PASSED when run from a browser, yet the command line version complains.

There are in total eight test cases out of 20 which fail when run as unit test, whereas from a browser "only" four fail.

I'll remove test/unit/WebTestCasesAutoTests.pm from SVN, we have to look for better ways to automate that.

Summary I give up on converting TestCases web to unit tests
