Isn't the problem here that the plugin in edit mode does not support sorting?

I see two ways.

Either extend the edit table plugin to support sorting OR to change the rendering probably caused by TablePlugin so that the headers are no longer links.

Thinking about it.

The moving and deleting of rows requires that things are static when you edit. ie no sorting. So the fix should be not to render headers as links in edit mode.
