enter "fubar" as your username, null password.

This looks like a problem with TemplateLogin?
In my SVN install I simply get logged in as "fubar" (no password / small caps), but if I try username "FuBar" or use a password I'm correctly dismissed with "Incorrect username or password".
With apache / basic auth there are no problems, apparently.
Raising this to Requirement.

Steffen's observation would need some deeper investigation about the various config settings and
.htpasswd
contents etc. In
my SVN install, my login is rejected as it should be ("Unrecognized user and/or password"), and that's what staring at the code would suggest.
develop.twiki.org has some extra features with regard to login:
configure
says it has TemplateLogin and TWikiUserMapping in place, yet
TWikiUsers does
not show registered users. I don't take that too serious.

I can't reproduce my finding in 10578, not sure what kind of state my setup could have been in at the time.
Reproritizing to normal, will keep an eye on it.

I think this must have been a temporary glitch; certainly, i can't reproduce it. Discarding.

At the moment
http://develop.twiki.org/~develop/cgi-bin/login/Bugs/WebHome
throws "Use of uninitialized value in string eq" when logging in as fubar / 1234.
But I agree ~twiki4 is ok.

DEVELOP has been discarded, so this bug goes too.
