Does this site look broken?. Use the LitterTray web for test cases.

It seems a recent SVN update has completely broken TWikiDrawPlugin.

When you click the edit button or the image a new window opens and then NOTHING happens. The topic only contains some <p /< and nothing else.

Can it be related to PatternSkin changes?

Could be. What edit button?

The edit button that the TWikiDrawPlugin adds close to the drawing.

And actually it is also missing now frown

You edit the drawing either by clicking on the small edit button or inside the drawing. If there is a map in the drawing the edit button is the only way.

It is skin related because the plugin works when I call the URL

instead of

So it must be related to twikidraw.pattern.tmpl which you find in the TWikiDrawPlugin.

If you are not familiar with the plugin then you should install it. It is a brilliant little plugin that enable people to make small figures and even graphical navigational aids in a matter of 60 seconds. You will need to install the plugin to fix the problem. In an SVN installation it is a matter of a short visit to configure.

Once installed you add this to some sandbox topic:

The twikidraw.pattern.tmpl seems to have only two includes: twiki and messages.

SVN 9086.

BTW should this plugin work on Mac OS X? Because it doesn't: the image gets all screwed up.

AC, this is probably be related the java version running at your machine - what version are you running? If it's easy to downgrade to i.e. 1.4 you could try that out.

What does a screenshot look like? (Just curious :-))

-- SP

I believe I have JDK 1.4.2.

Screenshot attached.

Indeed strange, no idea what causes this. Looks to me like random bit-errors are introduced in the GIF file in transfer / generation. I would try using an other JDK (newer/older, both should work OK) engine for starters. Could you try to attach the GIF file you get to this topic? (Just to eliminate a browser-rendering issue).

-- SP

It is the uploaded file in the plugin that seems to be corrupted. Probably uploaded as text instead of binary. It is not the first time I see this with graphics in plugins on SVN. I also see the drawing screwed up.

You do not use Java when you view the drawing.

Do you get distorted graphics if you make a new drawing?

This plugin gives me strange interaction:

  • When I write %DRAWING{test}% on a page, I first get a broken image icon.
  • Clicking on the broken image, I get the applet, with an error message at the bottom: =Error reading /devtwiki/pub/Sandbox/DrawTest/test.draw: java.io.FileNotFoundException: http://visiblearea.com/devtwiki/pub/Sandbox/DrawTest/test.draw= (note this text was not selectable for copy/paste!)
  • When I draw or edit, there is no Save button
  • I cannot close the window
  • The only link available is on the oops page: the Cancel link
  • Clicking on Cancel does not save the image

You probably realized it by now, but you are right - the only way to exit the applet is through the "Drawing" menu item. In this way it is not very "consistent", UI-wise. But it sounds like you're closing in on a roundtrip smile

-- SP

Sounds very strange what Arthur is seeing. I know that we have had problems when people did not have an up2date Java JRE.

When it all works you make a new drawing this way.

  • Edit, Add the %DRAWING{somename}% and Save topic
  • You now see the "broken" image and a message to click the image to edit
  • Click and a TWiki window opens and right after a Java applet opens with an empty drawing. It is true that there is an error message at the bottom because it tries to open drawing that does not yet exist.
  • Draw something
  • To save use the top menu "Drawing > Save and Exit"
  • The applet now saves and closes
  • The Twiki window closes
  • The original topic now has a nice drawing.

As far as I can tell this bug report is closed.

If there is another problem with the Applet not running on a Mac this is a new bug. But make sure you use JRE 1.5.0 or newer. Some 1.4.X versions never worked well with the applet. Problems related to opening and saving.

I mark this as patch. This is related to the Pattern Skin update which I still assume is in next release no matter if it is called 4.0.2 or 4.1.

It should only be merged in with the new Pattern Skin. They go hand in hand.
