the Chinese interface tranlastion for DakarRelease

Nice one! It would be really good to get this in ..... Antonio, any chance?

What is the language code for them?

zh seems to stand for "Chinese", without mention about Simplified or Traditional (at least in Firefox).

What I need to know is: what language code (xx-XX) browsers use when users expefct Simplified Chinese, and which one is used when the user expects Traditional Chinese?

http://www.w3.org/International/questions/qa-css-lang#bytheway has a few words on the subject.

But http://www.iana.org/assignments/language-tags lists quite a few possibilities for the ignorant - perhaps you can give a few hints, CheDong?

according to my firefox http header: Accept-Language: zh-cn,zh;q=0.5 zh-cn for Simpified Chinese and I guess: zh-tw for Traditional Chinese

Hope this translation could be release with Dakar

Added on SVN 8251.

Two issues:

  • the files you sent both had a unicode character at first position that made GNU gettext tools freak out. I had to remove that so I could check them with tools/check_translations.sh. Please get the files from Subversion when reviewing the translation.
  • when listing available languages, both Simplified and Traditional Chinese are named "中文". Maybe they should be differentiated in some way (in "translating" the _language_name entry.

At revision 8263.

Try svn co http://svn.twiki.org:8181/svn/twiki/branches/DEVELOP . instead smile TWiki:Codev.HowDoesTheDEVELOPBranchWork has more on the two branches.

  • for Simplified Chinese: 简体中文
  • for Traditional Chinese: 繁体中文
  • I'v svn checkout the develop branch and cp the lastest zh-cn.po and zh-tw.po to my locale but seem not work even I reconfigured with: http://www.chedong.com/twiki/bin/view zh.po is ok before
    1. $TWiki::cfg{Languages}{zh-tw}{Enabled} = 1;
    2. $TWiki::cfg{Languages}{zh-cn}{Enabled} = 1;

btw: this TWiki not config with utf-8 frown all Chinese input transform to htmlentities like I first time use twiki

Hi AT:

I'v checked the zh-cn.po and zh-tw.po and modified some other entries. Please help slove the zh-tw and zh-cn in cfg{Languages} problem: seem it's not work in bin/configure, I temporarily use zh.po and tw.po instead and tested in my site: http://www.chedong.com/twiki/bin/oops/Main/WebHome?template=oopschangelanguage and now shown ok

Please reload the language file into locale:

  • zh.po ==> zh-cn.po
  • tw.po ==> zh-tw.po

This is a bug. The key in that hash config should be written as {'zh-tw'}.

But since all languages are enabled by default (in TWiki.cfg) it should work, the problem for now is disabling them.

Just added the updated translations (SVN 8277). CheDong, in next times, please update the translations in a svn checkout and send just a patch against current revision, ok? smile

I guess we can close this item, the configuration issue is already reported as another one.

And wow, CheDong, thank you for your contribution! smile

Yep, seeing TWiki "omnipresent" in so many languages is a cool feeling. A thank you from here as well, CheDong!

Hope you're with us again for "the final round", once we really decide to freeze *g*.

Thanks, I'll follow the new bug Item1388, and send the lastest patch next time. Hope DakarRelease could be released soon. smile
