or some other similiar solution.

i personally don't want my name spammed all over the internet for all public twiki installations.

It is generated by including an attachment. There is no way to "noindex" a specific topic, AFAIK. Any ideas? A %NOINDEX% tag in the topic, perhaps?

CC

Simple solution: Go back to the wiki-way of maintaining content by maintaining the contributor list in the TWiki.TWikiContributors topic (which is a more matural way to maintain content anyway). The build script can extract the text to populate the AUTHORS file in the root dir of the distribution.

How does that help? The topic is still distributed, so Will's name will still be present in a topic with no way to noindex it.

A NOINDEX setting is looking increasingly sensible; especially if you consider it could be applied to the whole of the Main and TWiki webs, leaving only user webs as indexable.

CC

There is no control over indexing of static files attached to TWiki topics. However, individual topics can be controlled, simply add a NOINDEX meta tag to the TWiki.TWikiContributors topic.

This should work but does not due to new bug Item1290:

   * Set HTTP_EQUIV_ON_VIEW =  <meta name="robots" content="noindex,nofollow" />

I do not agree to NOINDEX the Main web and TWiki web, it should be up to the site admin to decide, By default all webs should be indexed. One important factor: Public TWikis help also raise the Google ranking (in a legimite way); we miss an opportunity if we do not let index public TWikis.

OK, thanks for explaining that. It does work.

SVN 8072 noindexes TWikiContributor, which should stop respectful robots.
